Some speculative questions I asked as I was building this world were: what if people in power were always right? How would people live and how would they react?
On the Island of Hop Flowers, I wanted to tell a story of a young girl named Sage where the powerful are always in control and everything they say is justified. The characters within this world have decided that nothing would come out of rebelling so they have accepted this way of life. To portray that acceptance, I used warmer tones to create a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I also wanted the world to have an ominous feeling of surveillance which is why I decided on red spotlights during the night.
